Summer goodies

I like summer, not love summer because I hate the sweltering, humidity and heat.  However,  luckily that hasn't happened yet, so Violet and I are in heaven.  It's warm and breezy and perfect for eating and playing outdoors. Matt LOVES the heat and humidity. He's in the backyard alone in August...haha

Summer has sprung alittle early and to the farmer's market we go.  This is out stash from Sunday.

Strawberries were so sweet and juicy. They'll be gone by tonight.

The cherries are so delectable I wished I had another pint.

Breakfast was outside on Sunday.  LOVE THAT!  The big Sunday breakfast including strawberries, fried eggs, bacon, scrapple and toast.  YUMMO!  These kinds of breakfast bring fond memories of Sunday's at Nana's after church.

I also made bread on Sunday.  I know crazy right?  'Artisan bread in 5 minutes' has a fairly simple recipe and the loaf turned out just lovely and tasty.  I mean it was nothing special but the crust was crunchy and the bread tasty yet alittle doughy - but it was my first try.  And anything with butter on it has to be good right?

What a great home down Sunday in Delaware.

  1. Yay! Bring on the summer and fresh fruit and veggies!! Your breakfast has made me hungry and your bread looks like it turned out awesome! There is nothing better than the smell of fresh baked bread other than a nice warm slice with butter!!

Oh by the way mom hates the hot weather, it stops her from taking photos!!

  5. Yummers!!! My ma NEVER makes homemade bread! Which really isn't fair, because she knows how much I love it! Well, maybe I can talk her into buying the book.

Sounds like the perfect Sunday....hope you have many, many more!

  6. Oh are making me hungry...that bread needs to be made so it's going to be attempted...strawberries...we get ours in July...soon...cherries...later I guys really ahead of us...have a great day everyone!

  7. I think some people do well in heat and humidity. I'm not one of them, LOL. Your farmers market fruits and veggies look so good. Your bread looks delicious too! Sounded like a great Sunday!

  8. I am eying my strawberries daily and hoping they don't drown before they ripen. Apparently this was the warmest spring on record everywhere except the Pacific Northwest where I am.

  9. Yay for the Farmers Market. We have had strawberry shortcake, 3 nights in a row...never get tired of that :D
